Kevin G. Norby, ASGCA, RLA
Principal/Project Architect

Kevin Norby is a member of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) and, since 1990, has been involved with the design and construction of over 100 projects throughout the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.  The four cornerstones of Kevin’s design philosophy include enjoyment of the game, strategy & shot making, respect for the environment, and fiscal sustainability.

At Herfort Norby, each project is personally managed by Kevin Norby.  Kevin will be directly responsible for assessing the site and preparing all plans and specifications and will be the individual primarily responsible for working with the client and the contractor throughout the design and construction process.

Kevin began his career in 1976 and went on to pursue a degree in Landscape Architecture.  After finishing his education at South Dakota State University and the University of Idaho, Kevin worked for 8 years in construction before becoming a licensed landscape architect and planner.

In 1990, Kevin met Don Herfort, a Minnesota-based golf course architect and a Fellow with the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA).  Kevin spent the first 10 years of his career working with Don Herfort and learning the tricks of the trade and the principles of golf course design and construction before forming Herfort Norby Golf Course Architects in 2000.  Today, Kevin Norby is the industry’s leading authority on golf course master planning and one of the industry leaders in golf course design.
